Everything You Need to Stay Focused

Boot combines a finite state machine, structured time blocks, deterministic task scoring, and ADHD-friendly rituals into one calming system.

BOS State Machine

Your day modelled as a deterministic state machine with six states, twelve commands, and layered authority.

S0 — Offline

The starting state. System is dormant. Only BOS:BOOT can transition forward. NSIL breach detection runs passively.

S1 — Activation

Boot your day by setting your energy level and primary objective. Review the forecast, plan your first block, then transition to Execution with BOS:FOCUS.

S2 — Execution

Where deep work happens. Start a 90-minute focus block on a single task. Track switch urges. Complete or abort cleanly. BOS:CHECK exits to Maintenance.

S3 — Maintenance

Between-block state. Review progress, open a Sandboxed Reflection Window (SRW), or re-enter Execution with BOS:FOCUS.

S4 — Shutdown

Day is closing. NSIL runs the shutdown sequence: ship log, constraint capture, tomorrow seed, and input lock. Transitions back to S0.

Sx — Degraded

Containment state for disruptions. Triggered by BOS:CONTAIN. Recovery routes back to Maintenance (BOS:RECOVER) or Activation (BOS:STABILIZE).

Authority Layers

Commands are governed by a strict authority hierarchy (highest first): Kernel > NSIL > State > RAB > SRW > User. Higher-authority commands can override lower layers.

90-Minute Focus Blocks

Structured time containers with three distinct phases — designed to help you ease into flow and exit cleanly.

15 min

Ramp-Up

Gather context, open files, review the task. Low-pressure entry — no expectation of output yet.

60 min

Core Focus

Single-threaded execution on one task. No context switching. Switch urge logging captures distractions without breaking flow.

15 min

Cool-Down

Save progress, note blockers, mark the task complete or partial. Clean exit — no dangling threads.

Switch Urge Logging

During a block, log the urge to switch tasks without actually switching. Build self-awareness of distraction patterns over time.

Pause & Resume

Pause the block timer for interruptions. The system tracks total pause time to give you accurate remaining-time calculations.

Abort Cleanly

Not every block succeeds. Abort a block without judgment — the system logs it and moves on. No streak penalty, no shame loop.

Smart Forecast & Scoring

The RAB (Rank-and-Batch) module scores every actionable task deterministically — no AI guesswork, just transparent math.

Priority Weight

P0 (critical) scores 100 points, P1 scores 75, P2 scores 50, P3 (low) scores 25. The foundation of every task rank.

Due Date Urgency

Tasks within a 14-day horizon earn up to +50 bonus. Overdue tasks escalate at +5/day past due, capped at +50 extra.

Energy Match

Tasks matching your current energy get +30. Mismatched tasks (too demanding for your level) get a −20 penalty.

Mood Bias

Five moods — focus, creative, analytical, admin, easy — boost matching task types by up to +20 points.

Project Relevance

Projects have relevance tiers from Parked (0, filtered out) to Must Do (4, 2× weight + 35 flat bonus).

Freshness & Neglect

Recent projects get a −15/block penalty (last 5 blocks). Tasks untouched for 7+ days earn +3/day neglect bonus (capped at +25).

Reroll

Don't like the forecast order? Reroll shuffles candidates with a daily score bias — a small randomisation that ensures variety while keeping scoring fair.

Weekly Forecast

See your estimated block load across the week. Plan ahead without overcommitting — the system accounts for capacity per day.

Night Shutdown & Input Lock (NSIL)

Terminate the day cleanly. Prevent late-stage cognitive bleed. Block regression vectors from uncontrolled night inputs.

Ship Log

One to three lines recording what shipped or progressed today. No retrospectives, no analysis — just facts.

Constraint Capture

One rule or patch to enforce tomorrow. A single constraint that carries forward to your next activation.

Tomorrow Seed

A single tentative objective candidate for tomorrow. Plants the seed so your next boot starts with direction.

Input Lock

Arms the input lock to prevent new work, decisions, or cognitive load after shutdown. Breach detection alerts you if you violate it.

Breach Detection

Working after shutdown? The system detects NSIL breaches and logs them. Awareness without punishment.

NSIL Journal

All shutdown entries — ship logs, seeds, constraints — are stored in a browsable history. Track patterns over weeks.

Sandboxed Reflection Window (SRW)

Controlled, time-boxed reflection that produces durable artifacts without contaminating execution.

Fixed Time Boxes

Choose 25, 45, or 90 minutes. Timer expiration is mandatory — no extensions. Keeps reflection contained.

Artifact Output

Every SRW must produce an artifact — a memo, decision log, diagram, post-mortem, or threat model update.

Anti-Rumination

Narrative drift triggers the Patch Format kill-switch: Trigger → Failure Mode → Patch → Test. No spiralling.

Projects, Tasks & History

Organise your work into projects and tasks with rich metadata, dependencies, and full execution history.

Projects

Create projects with weight, relevance tiers (Parked to Must Do), and archive support. Drag to reorder priority.

Tasks

Tasks have priority (P0–P3), energy cost, due dates, type tags, dependency links, and estimated block counts.

History Timeline

Browse your complete execution history — boots, blocks, state transitions, and NSIL shutdowns — in a visual timeline.

Security & Account

Enterprise-grade authentication with multiple sign-in options and strong encryption at rest.

Google OAuth

Sign in with your Google account for seamless, password-free authentication. Link or unlink any time.

TOTP 2FA

Add a TOTP authenticator app for two-factor authentication. Secure your account with a time-based one-time password.

Encryption at Rest

Secrets are encrypted using XChaCha20-Poly1305 with a Key Encryption Key. Your sensitive data stays protected.
